The end of the semester brings a sense of accomplishment, relief, and apprehension all at once for me during the Winter break. I have made some more progress to my goal, which is a massive sense of accomplishment that I never thought I would be able to experience again after many failed attempts returning to school. The relief of another term completed and getting a bit of time to assess my goal and make any adjustments necessary to my classes, major, or other details. The apprehension creeps in later when the only task is the next semester to begin. I find that the Winter break has a longer than needed interval between the end of one class and the beginning of another. The closer I get to the goal the more I worry if it will even happen. This failed logic creates overthinking and stress that I need to work on. 2024 will be filled with a lot of “last” accomplishments. Last registration, last payment, last class, and so on. These mini milestones will hopefully create more of a sense of accomplishment than fear, but we will see. I cannot wait for this year to begin and to celebrate Pubba’s graduation this Summer. This is such a huge moment for her, and I feel honored to be apart of it.
This Spring semester I will kick up my course load to 9 hours in each of the three terms this year, Spring, Summer, and Fall. This is the plan to be done in one year’s time from today. It will be three classes with a lab attached to one, but all will be more technical in nature than previous classes. I will taking Comprehensive Networking with the lab, Database Theory, and Systems Analysis. This is where the apprehension comes into play. I know that I will address each of these like I have the other classes in the past. I will take each one day or assignment at a time and build on each step to reach the end, but it is a daunting task for me. Until they begin I will enjoy the holiday and keep in mind that another round of accomplishment, relief and apprehension will be in the future, but it is going to be more than worth it in the end.
